Harsens Island

has anyone been out there perchin lately? I cought a lot of nice fish out there last year but i havn't been out there this year just wondering if it was worth the ride.

I was there Wed. Fished from 10 till 5 and kept only 3 fish. Lots of dinks but saw very few decent fish in the hole.

I was at Harsen's on Sunday from 12 till dark. In the morning I fished at Metro in the back boat basin. I caught maybe 20 dinks and and a couple of keepers. At Harsen's I am not lying when I tell you I caught at least 300 perch of which 295 were dinks. The water is only about 3 feet deep and you can fish with a bead and when they come in catch 20 in about 5 minutes or less. I was hungry so I brought 48 of the biggest home. (including 3 keepers that I caght off of metro beach on Saturday). My family of 5 made a meal out of them tonight. A lot of brain surgery to clean them, but pretty tasty. There were a few people out there but most got discouraged and left. I found about 5 or 6 holes that produced and when one would stop I just moved to another and they started again. Most of the time there were a couple at least in the hole. I had to jig pretty hard to get them to take the bead. One guy did catch a 13 incher while I was there but I never saw a single jumbo. I also talked to a guy who caught a 6 lb pike and antoher guy who had one on for a short time. It was a great day to be outside. This weekend it's off to Simcoe with the kids. Good luck to you.

thanks for the input on harsens. I went there a couple years ago and did pretty good. I noticed you said you were off to simcoe this weekend and ironically i am too! Were leaving friday at 2 a.m and coming back sunday. Good luck

Seems like a lot of us will be at Simcoe this weekend. I am leaving Friday at 3:00 am and coming home Sunday night. I bet when we get back we will read how great he fishing was here. Hope everyone that stays here gets their limit, because I feel all going across the border to Simcoe will. Good fishing to all.
