Took two fishing clients today, for some rare winter open water fishing on the Tittabawassee. These two guys were/are really old friends, being we've conversed back and forth on several different fishing boards in the last couple of years. You may recognize the names "Jake" and "NetMinder" as their board handles. NetMinder was the one who contacted me initially about an ice fishing charter on the Bay this winter, but because of bad timing, weather circumstances the last couple of weeks, and now with the bad travel conditions and slow down of the bite, I offered the boys a real treat today.
And I thought I might have made a mistake, when the Trucks rear view mirror temp gauge read 5 degree this morning, as I pulled out of my driveway. And then to see the river flowing heavy with skim ice when I arrived at the ramp, I thought Oh No.... But there we were, and the river depth and flow was where I like to see it, low and clear. So the "U. S. S. Skim Breaker" (after some coaxing) made her way onto plane, and crashing up river we went. The first hour or so, was a nightmare with every cast being caught on ice flows. But steadily the chunks got smaller and I moved into my best spot.
I could tell you a tale of a certain client today, who was about as snake bit/unlucky as any I've ever seen, but I won't be so cruel. Let me just say that we went 8 for about 18, and that me and the other client didn't miss more than a couple a piece, and leave it at that. That is unless he wants to defend himself here, and comment on just what the heck was going on. Anyway, heres the pictures from today.
