Small compact but there must be a down side

I was just at Meyers the other day and just bought another ice fishing rod that was marked way down when it hit me why can’t I use them during the summer for fish such as perch and other small pan fish? I’m thinking they would be a lot easer in the camper and in the family boat do to the size and even better for the kids. Small compact but there must be a down side…so what are they guys?

I use mine a lot for perch/gills. Great for fishin' straight down. Lousy for casting ;) Works great for kids when you're in more then 8-10ft.
