Boy do I like fishing this type of weather! I've been picking my fishing days based on the nastiest weather and has it really payed off. Nobody else on the lake and the fishing has been unreal. Anybody else like this stuff?

Often times the nastiest weather days are snow days, and on those days I will be on the ice.

My biggest fish of every species have come during the middle of storms. I would rather have it cloudy and crappy than sunny and beautiful. Lets get together!..............Patch

I'm kinda middle of the road on this one. I've nailed them on days you could'nt see 3 feet in front of you. Last Sunday we nailed them and it was sunny with no wind.

As a general rule, when there is a snowstorm going on, the wind is usually out of the east or NE. Who says "East is least"??? Unless your in the lake effect snow areas...

I love the ice on a Squally day. No school, no students. Just me and my portable adrift on a sea of ice. Wake me up I must be dreaming!
This would be heaven if it ever occured this way. Usually the weekends bring the storms, and the only "SnowDay" is in reality an ice day when I can't get to the lake because the roads are too slippery.

biggest and best hits for me are just prior to a storm or during a storm, except for perch, it seem I do best with perch on high pressure and calm days.

my best days have come right after a storm. We also had a great day in the rain this year too. About 2 weeks ago when it got warm and rainy, we were out there in a permanent shanty. Nice and dry inside ;) adn the fishing was great.

Can only make it out on Sunday this week and I'm on call next weekend so I'll have to stay close. I was going to the usual spot Sunday morning but am willing to travel if you've got a better idea. Still catching a few big ones each trip, but the average size is down. Did pop one 10 1/4" two weeks ago. (In a snowstorm!) Send me a PM and we'll figure something out.

Scott, they are still there. Just need to drill alot of holes and move around to find biters. They are not biting waxies, but spikes, mousies and wigglers are all working.

Pete, have you been concentrating in one specific depth?? I've found, little ones in the deeper water and big ones in the shallower. Has it been the same for you?

Yup. Similar pattern. Bigger fish in 14-15' away from the crowds. Further south along the same break. Also found a bunch in 3'. Boy that was fun until I got invaded and the fish spooked.

ive caught most of my fish right during snowstorms. perch, pike, and big bass....(caught and 8 pounder last week, big surprise on a teardrop with a waxworm!!!). i think its the lowlight conditions that a storm brings that alters the fishes routine, and makes them prowl and feed somewhat more. any day ive been out that's sunny has been slow. and any day it's been cloudy and crappy i have more luck. it's a general rule of thumb that fish feed in lowlight conditions because light is scattered and they feel safer patrolling around, as they feel they won't become another predator's meal as quickly. i know if i were a perch i wouldn't be swimming around in illuminated waters looking for food when ole' mr. pikey could be hiding in weeds two feet away!!
