We took the 234 hunt again this year. I bow hunt so I like the extra foliage. Been in the woods a few times with some other guys for the opener though. The birds are definitely easier to call in. As long as the weather cooperates. Seems like every season when april comes around I wish I had applied for the opener, but then by may I'm always glad I didn't.
Good luck to you. Hope you get a long beard :)

This was my first year in the drawing and I was unsuccessful. I am thinking about doing the 234 hunt now. Is the hunting still ok during 234? or are the turkeys so spooked from the earlier hunts that its not worth the time?

It depends.

I've never taken a bird yet so maybe I'm not a good person to give advice. But I have been coming closer, and closer each year, and I've always taken the last hunt. So I really feel like if I can do it, anyone should be able to find birds and have a chance at one even on the last hunt.
234 is for the entire state except public land in the southern lower so you have a pretty wide area to choose from.
Sure beats not hunting at all :)

I've taken 4 toms in the past 5 years on the 234 hunt. I like the season for the following reasons.

* Better Weather
* More Time
* Plenty of birds

Good Luck.
