Lowrance X65 or Garmin 240? What do they usually cost?

DEFINITELY the Garmin. The 240 has been replaced with the 250 now so if you can find a 240 for sale yet it'll run under $200.

If you're planning to do any big lake fishing spend the extra money and get a dual-frequency transducer finder. They're an extra $50 or so, but well worth it. The Garmin 250 with the dual frequency is about $230 if I remember right at GPSdiscount.com.

Don't buy a Lowrance/Eagle. They're available everywhere here in Michigan and the prices are good, but the customer service is crap if you ever need to deal with a broken one.
