went up to higgins thursday night and came home yesterday afternoon. everything was very slow. we got into a couple of whitefish friday along with some small lakers. also friday was probably the best day for smelt also. I only got about 50 but that seemed to be about the best anyone was doing. They are definetly there marking them from 10' down to the bottom(only in 22' of water). Saturday one keeper laker and that was it. only about 20 smelt in 2 1/2 hours. Things should be picking up in the next couple of weeks especially for the smelt. 2 feet of ice just about everywhere in the north part of the lake and lots of snow on the ice. a foot in most places but close to a foot and a half where its been drifting. there were also lots of shanties but not a whole lot of people.
