Went to Higgins today! The smelt bite was very slow in the early morning hours, only managed around 20, but enough for bait.

Slow for lakers most of the morning until 9am then, bang, bang. My friend lands a 23 incher and I land a 28 incher. That was it for the day, good day on the lake, but colder than u know what. I have 3 pictures from today in my picture gallery, if someone will post them, cause I seem to still be disfunctional when it come to that.

Friday morning caught one whitefish. Sat. I had schools(2-4) of lakers swimming all morning(most small 16 inches and some that might have went to 23-24 inches) that seemed to keep the whitefish away-I had the camera down. The lakers were not aggressive at all, I had one take a small jig but lost it half way up. Around 10 the lakers thinned out and a big whitefish came in, hooked it got it all the way up to the bottom of the hole and it caught the camera line and snagged up right at the whole, it finally made one last escape and broke my line but with a little line wrapped around the camera cord, it still was at the hole sideways, scrambled for the gaf but I was split second to late and back it went home :dizzy: Small lakers returned and that was the morning.

Fun morning cause I had fish most of the time on camera- lakers, one whitefish, couple perch, and some single smelt. All in 85 feet of water. I'll post the whitefish pic later.

End of March? Hard to say. Should be but all depends on the weather. That's a whole month away and we all know how Michigan weather is.
