Sorry if this is not the right spot for this, but I'm looking to get a gill mounted by a fish artist in southern Michigan (Lansing or farther south). I don't want the cheapest, for sure. I'm looking more for someone to make the fish look alive, and like it just came out of the water. Who would you suggest? And please, don't recommend yourself. I'm looking for references, not sales pitches. Thanks.

DZtaxidermy, a sponser here and looks like he does great work
Santiago,
Here's the best way to get the type of work you're looking for: Look at the taxidermist's work. DON'T look at the price at all until you've decided you like the job they do or not. Some guys charge outrageous prices and are flat-out bad at it. A $400 deer head does NOT mean a quality head. But you'd see the price and that would influence your impression of the job. Likewise, you mentioned you don't want the "cheapest". What if the lowest-priced guy does the best work and just doesn't price accordingly for whatever reason? See what I'm saying.
Look at the art first, the price dead-last and you'll be way ahead of the game.

I second that vote for DZ Taxidermy, he does great work, and specializes in fish. He has posted many photos of his work, and the fish look alive. Nice guy too..

Your first visit should be to a site sponsor.
I encourage visits to multiple shops and do not ask anyone to leave thier trophy if they think they can do as well or better somewhere else.
Word of mouth is great but the final decision is yours.
Please don't call me. I don't do fish and refer all of my fish inquiries to Dan.

Howdy, Santiago-
DZ, without question. I had the pleasure of visiting his house a couple of years ago with my kids; they couldn't stop ooohing and ahhing, and neither could I! ;)

Boy, is this one-sided or what! The guy asked for opinions, not to be bombarded with recommendations about a site sponsor. ;) By the way, DZ gets my vote too! :p :D
Here is a Salmon he did for me and believe me, the picture doesn't do it justice. He currently has 7 Perch that he is doing and I'm confident they will be done to perfection!
