Smelt action on Green Lake?

Does anyone know how the smelt are doing on Green lake (TC)? Never fished Green before and thought we'd give it a try saturday night.

We plan on trying Crooked lake by Lake City for gils and pike saturday then heading to Green in the evening if the smelt are doing anything. Thanks for any info.

I have been up there a few nights and have a few friends that live in the area...at the launch in the green lake rustic campground they are getting them but very small and on a good night you might get 50 apiece...they seem to bite all night but hooking them is another story...spike or waxies seem to be the best and they haven't really been hitting the pinheads at all...at the other launch (I believe the north side maybe????) they are getting big ones (7-9 inches) but very far and few between maybe 7-8 a night..pick your poison I guess just bring good company..a radio and some barly pops and you will have a great night regardless

We got about 50 the other night for bait. Fished from 7-9 or so. Most are 5"=/-.

Will be sure to bring the the good company and barly for insurance. :) This will be my first time on the ice this year due to health issues, and I need it bad. As long as this Moron can catch at least one more fish than my flatlander buddy Putz, it'll be a good time. :D

In an earlier post White Bear stated he did better with small gold hooks than he did with with the hali. Is that usually the case when they are running on the small size? Thanks again for the responses.

I tell ya I had several differant setups (between me and my wife) and they seemed to bite the small hali..small tear drops..small gold, and small red hooks about the same...it seemed that if you got it in front of them they bit it...but I hate to break it to you but that flatlander might just have a chance...I took my wife who has never even been on the ice before in her life and she outdid me at least 2-1
