Anyone have any good hints for fishing these 2 rivers? type of tackle you use? type of fish caught?

I've caught a few rainbows over the years on the Sturgeon. We use spawn and work the holes.

Sturgeon: Brown trout for the most part, some brook trout in the upper reaches

Pigeon: Brook trout for the most part, some brown trout in the lower reaches

Bait: steelhead spawn bags, minnows, nightcrawlers, grasshoppers, crickets

Spinners: My favorite is the Panther Martin

These two rivers are classics. I hit both every year. I spend alot of time around the Haekwood area. Both these rivers fish really well in mid summer when alot of other rivers slow down because of the heat. The hopper fishing can be great. Just cast crickets or hopper along the banks and sweepers all day long. Early morning late evening just match the hatch and work tail outs and riffles.

That old railroad bridge at the nearby access is a neat spot. Our cabin isn't far from there. On the Pigeon the locals tell me they clean up on browns in the summer just after a big rain with worms. there's a steelhead run on the sturgeon and big walleye run:fish:
