After reading Utahan's post on "A fabulous hunt for a Grand" I was just curious as to what other hunters dream hunts are. Of course this is not including any money value just what hunt you would love to do in your life time.
My dream hunt includes my dad, brother, soon to be father-in-law and guide going to Alaska and hunting Moose. I can picture use riding horses towards the horizon and setting up camp just in time to see the sun set on the mountains. Then the next morning getting up and tracking a moose to a field where it is feeding. In my dream hunt it wouldn't matter if anyone was able to get a moose or not as long as we were on the trip of a life time.

I've always wanted to hunt a Russian Bear. I would like to harvest a nice 9-10ft bear.
Second hunt would have to be an Moose hunt in Alaska. drop me off by plane at a rustic lodge for a week and oh yea!

Funny how things seem so "dreamy" somewhere else......For 20 years I just dreamed of being back in Michigan sitting in a tree waiting for a deer. You would be amazed how many people would consider Michigan whitetail as a dream hunt.
Any more my dream hunts are for my kids to have the opportunities that I have had while hunting........I might just be dreaming? But I hope not!!

is a plains game safari in Africa. I almost went last year, but just after I found the PH and package I wanted I found out that the company I worked for was being sold.
Next up would be a red stag hunt in either Argentina or New Zealand.

To hunt the U.P. as they did in the 1800's.

We think along the same lines.
I get that Alaska magazine, every time I open it I dream about going there someday. An exotic hunt outside the North American continent, I have already admitted to myself will probably never happen.
I love those old pictures of horse drawn sleds/wagons overloaded with monster bucks from the logging & mining days of the U.P. and often wonder what that would have been like.

I would dream of the following hunts. They would include my brothers and 2 nephews.
* Grand Slam Turkey hunting trip
* Elk Hunting out west (bow)
* Canadian Bear Hunt (bow)
If I only had the money and time. :)

Alaskan Yukon Moose....maybe on one of Shockeys hunts? Somebody want to donate the $10-$17K I would need to make it happen?
Coastal or Kodiak Brown bear with bow...but to be honest, not sure if I have the cajones to reliably make a clean bow kill on such a beast!
Rocky Mountain Big Horn but I'd never be in the physical condition one must be in to be succesfull on such a hunt...nor could I ever afford the tag!

Kodiak Brown bear with a bow! Then elk, Moose, and the far fetched dream of Rockie Mountain Sheep All with a bow with the exception of maybe the sheep. Kinda hard to get close to those I hear.
I'd like to do the Alaskan Grizzly hunt, but NOT with a bow. I've read about angry problem bears, that after they got put down, the people found out that the bear had been shot with just about every caliber of gun and all the bullets were lodged in the skull, hide and tissue. No wonder they became problem bears This makes me think that shooting it with a bow, would just piss it off. What do you think about trying to stop a pissed off charging Grizzly that just found out that YOU shot him with a stick. You might as well bend over and kiss your **** goodbye. Cripe, not too many BULLETS can penetrate those skulls.
Oh and I'd love to do a moose hunt, with a bow.

.
If you go trying to shoot a Brown Bear in the head with a bow, you deserve what you'll get! Me, I'd aim for the vitals!
Having a guide back you up with his .416 Remington Mag would be a plus ofcourse! Ya know, just in case!

I'm not really a trophy hunter, but a trophy of a life time would make my dream come true. I really admire a 200+" whitetail, 500+lb blackbear, a huge 6X6 bull elk, or even a 14-16" pronghorn. Any of the above in my eyes is once in a lifetime, if your are lucky. Of course the weapon of choice would be a bow.
Taking a true trouphy animal with a bow would provide the my ultimate hunt

Dreams is what makes life tollerable. My dream is just like many of you but I see my dream happening with in the next 5 to 10 years. I would love to take a moster moose with a big scoop rack and full bread. This of would take place in the wonders of Alaska. It is a beauty all in its own. :)
I just found out the ladie that my fiance works with her brother is a guide in Alaska and she told me that he would give me a really good deal on a guided hunt what ever I wanted. So like I said my dream is going to happen.
Good Luck to All and Remember Dreams is what makes life tollerable.

I always dreamed of going on a hunt for a mountain goat. I know it will never happen because I'm not half the man I thought I was 10 years ago. ;)
Now its hunting big Canadian whitetails with my brother. With some luck that is going to happen within the next 3 years. :D

Alaskan Yukon Moose....maybe on one of Shockeys hunts? Somebody want to donate the $10-$17K I would need to make it happen?
Me too only without the Shockey part and with a bow.
I'd like to take my son. He's only 2 but by the time I save enough money to do that hunt I'll need him to push my wheelchair through the slough.

Yeah, I agree...not with Shockey per se but his outfitting service because he has access to some of the best big moose country in Alaska. You know it's good when he passes bulls that are close to new world records! Bow as well for me too.

All you giuy's that want to hunt a moose in Alaska better remember that when the fun is over and you walk up to close to a ton of dead moose, that the "Dream Hunt" has just turned into a "lot" of work. Back in my younger and foolisher days I packed quarters of moose for up to a mile, I,m alot smarter now. As the oldtimer said when asked where was the best place to shoot a moose, "right next to a log skidder"!

I've been thinking about this topic for a while now, just don't have the funds for any of it at the moment.
1. Alaska hunt for Caribou/moose/bear. (This is no dream though, I'm planning on going within the next few years).
2. Cameroon/Central African Republic for Lord Derby Eland/Bongo/Elephant.
3. Tajikistan/Kirghizstan/Mongolia for Argali and Ibex.

I know, we hunt them here, but big whitetail bucks. I can't get enough of them. To me, everytime I go one-on-one againist a whitetail buck is a dream hunt. Trouble is, they seem to win more than I do!!!! They will humble you more than they will gratify you, that is what makes whitetails so special to hunt.

#1 Dream hunt would have to be a polar bear followed by a Russian brown bear hunt. As long as I'm dreaming it would have to be all expenses paid by someone other than me.
Actually I can afford these hunts as long as my daughters don't want to go to college or have Dad pay for their weddings. :yikes: Until then it will remain an internet dream hunt. I can live with that.
