I'm going to wait till prices drop on Vexilar (either on their website for a refurbished model or ebay) over the next few weeks. Which brings me to another questions. Vexilar has a boat mount where you can use the Vex in the summer. Does anyone here use their Vex in the summer? Do you use it for vertical jigging, or mostly for depth measurement?

I'm gearing up for spring, and wondering out loud if I should get the vex boat mount.

I dont' have a great finder, just a 12-year old Eagle Magna II. There is a couple second delay on this unit, whereas the flasher its "real time".

Any and all feedback is appreciated.

Mike

I use mine on the bow. Connected to the trolling motor.

Yep, I do. So do the Linderer brothers and they seem to know how to fish.

I was watching one of the Bass tournament shows on TV.Almost all of those guys had a vex and a fishfinder on board. They were talking about how the vex gives you a more accurate reading on the fly.

If you don't want to spend the big bucks on a new transducer-
Just cut a piece of 2x4 at an angle so the transducer will hang straight down to the water. Then bolt or screw it to the transom. Seal it with silicone calk. Take a piece of 1 1/2 inch pvc (can't remember if it was thick or thin wall type). Drill bigger screw access holes to one side then smaller ones on the opposite side for the screws to hold it on the 2x4. Screw it on and more calking. Has worked great for me.The ice transducer slides perfectly into the pvc. You can pull it right out whenever you want to.
