I have searched the old posts and can not find any info on leaning posts. I want to replace the cooler seat on my 18' Laguna with a leaning post. I have found several shops that make them, and all the shops are down south. Before I call them, does anyone know a place here in Michigan that makes them? I have found one at West Marine made by Todd for about $500, but I would like to get one that is aluminum and a bit smaller. Thanks for any input.

You could try 21mile and jefferson marine (yes, that is the name). I don't have the number handy, but I have it at home and can get it later. I know they carry a couple different styles of leaning posts since they sell mostly cc boats. You could also try getting ahold of GETAWAY, I know he was building radar arches for a very affordable rate and was doing a very good job. I would think since he's already doing the bending and welding, he could probably build something custom for you if you wanted?? Just an idea!

Thanks, I will try to track down Getaway. If you have the number to the other place that would help too. If not I will check with information.
Thanks again for the help.

Slick (aka: Tim)
They are a bit more $$$$ but check out the pre-fabbed units by Taco Marine:

There are quite a few custom fab shops, especially in Florida. Do a little surfing and make a few calls you may find a shop that has already fabbed one for your boat.

Building something like that should be no problem bigslick.
Would you be able to pick the seat cushions up from a place like West Marine or do you want to use your existing ones?

also check out checker marine salvage in lasalle mi. they have over 300 boats being parted out.they may have either cushions or a leaning post that would fit. i have been there and bought stuff from charlie and he is very reasonable to deal with. good luck.

i have known charlie for about 10 years. we met at gibralter boat shows. he does each show every year.his wife is a crab and wants him to give it up ,but charlie loves the buisness. last year was the first trip to the warehouse and boatyard.its amazing. he has a 2 story building stuffed with parts and specializes in rebuilding io's .he fixes boats and sells them at the shows for very reasonable prices with a 1 year guarentee on all rebuilds.the yard is like an old fashioned junkyard where you can take your tools and wrench the part you need.most of the boats are stripped junk ,but its fun for a guy like me or you to see how a boat burned or hit something and sunk.i have bought a few parts here and there . his prices are about 10-50 percent of retail.he also has someone on staff who makes and repairs canvass tops.well worth the trip.its located right in downtown lasalle under the water tower near the ohio border off i-75. i could get the number from my basement if anyone needs it but i'm too lazy right now.hope this helps someone. Lakeside Marine (http://www.lakesidemarine.com/aluminum.htm) in Ohio does some very nice custom work on aluminum fabrications of any kind for boats. I have something on my boat from them and a friend does also. He had a complete hard top made and it is super nice. They might even ship it up to the Harrison Twp. store for free.
