Hi,
I have a good tall 9 year old that wants to start shooting bow and learning the art, any ideas on a good youth compound that will last a couple years? This is for target obviously right now, but we do hunt a game preserve that he can legally shoot deer at, so what lbs does he need to be at to humanely kill a whitetail doe?

thanks

All my kids started out on the Browning Micro-midas. When my 14 year grew out of it I stayed with the line and got him a Micro-eclipse. The eclpise can be adjusted from 21-27 inch draw lengths and 30 - 45 pounds. In my opinion some of the best youth bows in the market. It is obvious that Browning's strategy was to build an inexpensive QUALITY bow for youngsters in hopes of generating customer loyalty. Really, you can't go wrong. <----<<<

However, I think he's got it cranked all the way now (about 32#) and we'll probably be putting him into something else this Spring. It's been a great bow for him though - top notch equipment.

Of course, as I buy new toys for my bows (sights, rests, etc.) - he gets the old stuff. Only 11 year old I know with a drop away rest, lighted sight, and $45 stabilizer! :gaga:

definately get a micro-midas 3. will be able to use it forever. most adjustable youth bow out. and fast too. my son got his when he was 10. now at 13 he has grown alot. and still able to adjust it to him. cant beat it for the price. can get the bow it self for under $200.00 or kit for around $240.00
