Does anyone put brush or other things on the ice near the end of winter to make structure for the fish when the ice melts? Is it illegal? Or only illegal if it's near the top of the water and creates a boating hazard?

I tried to find it in the guide but I'm having trouble accessing the online guide right now. I may be wrong but I believe it's illegal. I don't think you can just decide where you want to create "structure" and then place it there to sink when the ice melts. I'm pretty sure they address that somewhere in one of the guides but I can't find it at the moment. When and if I do find it and I can be sure one way or the other, I'll post it here. Boehr will see this and know for sure.

I made and inquiry as to this same idea as well 2 years ago and went to far as to talk to the local DNR bioligist of the district of the lake that we were lookig for... basicly it is littering. furthermore, it does not help the fish, it helps the fisherman. It may actually do more harm then good in the long run on a fragile lake. The end result is that people do it to this day but in the end it is illeagal
