My father-in-law has been telling everyone I have skunk squirrels. :) I told him they're just the new version of NL Michigan whitetails.

That's amazing. Your yard also looks like mine. I can't keep the buggers from destroying the area belowe the feeders. It's a war!!! I think I'm going to get a couple of the feeders that zap squirles but not the birds. You can hang them right from the tree. I like squirles and even have a couple of whole corn feeders for them. I also am puting up a pandoras box for shelled nuts for them. They may be winning the battle but I will win the war. We must all learn to live in harmony! :p
Anybody else have suggestion in the waR?

In the summer I try training them with a BB gun. Give them a little sting. Most do stay away as they associate pain with the feeder. But come winter when I don't do it they forget quickly. I've never ate squirle and I'm not sure if I want to. Maybe I'll start another thread.
But I'd love to here more suggestions.

Nice picture moron.
Here are a couple I took a couple of years ago. Not as interesting as your picture but different.
This black squirrel has a red tail. Only saw him once.

This gray squirrel has some white behind his ears with a fox squirrel trim.

Gray and black squirrels are just a different color phase and are different from the fox squirrels.
Next to partridge, I like squirrel best, they are very tasty. Shooting them with a bb gun could kill or injure them.
Many flies are ties with the fur and especially the tail of squirrel. When I was a kid, Mepps used to buy the tails for a nickle I think.

Great picture Splitshot. :)
I've never seen one with a red tail like that before. That's neat. How long did you see him hanging around? I'm thinking these white tailed ones won't last long without snow cover, they sure stick out with a dark background. :)
