A buddy and I are interested in trying to get into a couple of bass tournaments somewhere near the Metro area. Does anybody have any ideas as to where I could start searching for a list of possible tournaments? We're not looking for anything TOO serious, but one day or weekend tournaments would be nice. Not sure if I could swing the mid-week tournament thing, but who knows. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

lakestclair.net is a good place to start you can either go to the events calendar or to tournament talk. You'll be able to find everything you need there!!

when the season gets closer, you can check gander mountain stores for flyers on tournaments. usually, there are 2 to 3 tournaments on LSC every weekend when the season is in full swing. most of these tournaments are 1 day events and you can pay at the launch the morning of the tournament.
another thought would be to do a search on tournaments on this site. :fish:

Usually basic requirements are a boat that is at least 16ft. in length, hp is not over what the craft is rated for, must have a working livewell, a kill switch to connect driver to main motor, and that the insurer has valid liabilty insurance. Other than that, requirements vary from organization to organization. If you look up different websites, most have a complete list of rules for there specific tourneys!!
