name this spider

i was out for a hike the other day and came acroos this spider it was about the size of a silver dollar and its body was the size of a nickle it was jet black with a large yellow spot. any ideas?

I came across the same thing...My mother also had one in her garden...She did some research and it is some sort of commn garden spider...I can't quite remember the name...

It's pretty unnerving to find one on your chest after wading through chest high grass. Gives you the wiggies for quite some time afterwards.

Any spider will give me the "wiggies". I have never heard that word before but it describes it pretty good. LOL.
