I know Canada has strict gun laws and you have to register them when you take your gun over for hunting. Has anyone traveled to Canada bow hunting? What are the requirements, etc?

Hey Harold, As of last year there was no preregistration for bows. I know they were contemplating the idea though. So I am not sure. Are you hunting with a guide? If you are, call them and they will let you know.

No registration needed... Been bear hunting there 5 years running now and they have never even looked at my bow... I did once get drug into the custom's office and ask several questions... I had a back up bow with me and the officer at the window couldn't understand why I would need 2 bows... They thought I was selling it while I was over there...

Captain Howdy is right, I've chased moose the last 3 years with my bow in ON and you don not need to do anything. If that changes they'll let you know at the obrder and will ahve teh paper work thre anyway.

BTW, definitely take a back-up bow with you if you're hunting in the boonies with a compound. If a customs guy is so dumb as to ask why, remind him how quickly your expensive hunt will be over if you nick a bowstring.

another thing to remember is that if hunting in canada you may not take game back to the states at this time! I read this somewhere recently because of the new found mad cow in canada. You may want to research this more as I just remember reading it and dont remember all the details. Best of luck to you northern hunters..EH!
