I was just there last night and ice was 12 to 14 inches not in the river channel.
Snow is all gone and you can cruise anywhere now!
All I caught was 12 gills on waxworms, a 19"smallmouth and a 25" northern with perch minnows.
I still haven't found all those crappies I was catching in the spring and fall
this year thru the ice yet.
I was fishing the bay up turtlehead.
Going to the big lake for the weekend for it is JUMBO TIME!!!
screw kent for now.LOL!

Fished Kent Lake last night and mostly caught those never ending 6 to 8 inch perch. No gills, just 2- 10inch calicos but my buddy gave me a 35" fat northern that he caught on tip up. Weighed 11lbs 4 ounces and will be tonights dinner. Will be the first time I have ever ate a nothern but I have heard they are good.

I was not in the river channel and went there this afternoon.
There is over 12 inches of good ice and should stand up to the weather fine.
Was glad to have the gas auger.
Weather was nasty but the gills and calico's went on the
big bite from 530 to 6:40 pm.
Thanks for the advice shametamer

Thanks for the info Mike. I guess we'll give it a shot.
Went out on Sat. and Sun. morning and evening. Mostly fished in river channel off of Turtlehead. Tons of very small perch, one undersized walleye, one legal walleye and to my surprise a 30" northern on my slip bobber rod. About 1/2 after dark. Thought I had a really good size walleye on. Anyway, ice was still in great shape. All my holes from Sat. had about 1.5" on them yesterday.
