hopefully took my last exhausting walk on the ice. got myself a used 1997 kawasaki 300 lakota. with new trailer and essentials came in just under 2,900. already had a few rookie happenings but nothing disasterous but then again i have'nt been on the ice yet. there are a couple of questions i would like to ask the more expierienced drivers. my machine is chain driven and i noticed on a guys machine his drive chain was full of snow and slush, how do you take care of that situation? i am sure you do not leave it on or it will freeze. also, god forbid, a machine goes in, how the heck do they get them out? and third ( this is a no brainer ) how do you keep a seat dry when your shanty fishing and its snowing out? any hints other than "wipe the damn seat" these questions may seem dumb to the seasoned driver but to a rookie every little bit helps and they are not listed in the owners mannual. i'll be watching this site for any tips or suggestions. and again GOOD FISHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not sure how to keep to the slush and snow off the chain as I have never experianced that my self. Maybe you can fabricate some kind of guard for it to help.

The seat? Just take it off (should be a quick release for it) place a garbage bag over and reinstall. When your ready to leave take the bag off and save it for next time.

If it goes in? I guess that would depend on the circumstances. Some guys will put a long chain/rope/cable and hook it to the frame and tie a milk jug onto the other end so it floats eliminating the need for a diver and just drag behind the machine.
