Any ice updates on any of these lakes. American Tackle said Mac was'nt very good. Heard you've got to be careful where you go on Muskegon. How about White? Appreciate any info.

Huron, welcome to the site.
White Lake for me at Lions Den, past two days, eight inches of ice, took home limit of gills and sunfish hand size along with a few sorters to top it off. 6 FOW. On Ice six hours a day, need to sort. Only a few small perch.

Buddy was out to Muskegon this afternoon, He said 2nd st. had 5 3/4 Shanties on the ice (one had started sinking) but talked to a guy headin out who said there was 6-7" of ice there. Also said there were alot of shanties and fishermen on Snug Harbor but didn't notice any quads or sleds out there.
He talked to a couple of guys that have been fishin Snug the past couple of days and they said there was at least 8" of ice.
From what I hear, The ice is still unsafe at the far east end due to the hot water discharge from the Cobb plant and the increased current from the river runoff. Be careful and good luck to ya.

Do not go out on the East end of Muskegon. (in front of the Censervation Club) My neighbor and 3 others took a bath there Saturday afternoon. He said the ice was 6-8" thick where they broke through. Stay away from the areas that have Slab Wood under them.

Anyone going out this weekend? I think we might brave Muskegon or White tomorrow.

Been fishing to the west off 2nd st. last 3 mornings. I measured 7" of ice this morning. The fishing has been slow. Two days ago seen a guy catch a 8 1/2lb walleye and one a little smaller back to back. Other then that a few small perch and catfish. Talked to 4-5 others last couple days and they've said about the same. The east end is not safe and there's a half sunk shanty marking it pretty clearly. Some parts of the very east end were open yesterday and glassed back over with blown snow on it this morning. Everyone is fishing straight out and west of 2nd st. Good fishing and don't forget your safety gear. This time of year we carry a floation device on 100' of rope along with icepicks and such.

Really appreciate the info & tips. I'll be out early tomorrow till dark. Either Muskegon or White. Leaning towards White right now. I'm easy to spot. The ugliest shanty on the lake :yikes: , homemade silver trap. With any luck, walleye and/or perch.

Fished west end near post office with 8" of good black ice on Friday. Should hold up quite well as there was little ice loss last week from the rain (maybe 1"-2" of bad ice melted and refroze) . Opening up near the channel, but SW corner of lake still is iced in very nicely.
