I am not really a walleye fisherman. but for you guys who have been talking about houghton lake. I have a tip.

Recently I have heard about some good eyes out of lake marguerete in grayling. has anyone here tried there? also I know that they have some decent bluegill and muskie there. And I dont think it gets much pressure.

i've fished margrethe in the summer for eyes and did real well, but never through the ice. on margrethe there are several big holes surrounded by weed edges, and on the other side of the weed edges are sand/gravel flats. we caught the eyes on those flats trolling crawler harnesses, rattle traps and hot n' tots (pulled behind a paddle boat mind you). im not sure where they'll be in the winter, but i'd try the edges of those holes, if u can find them. i would get a topo map of the lake, find the holes, and fish on either side of em. hope this helps a bit.

also i forgot those weed edges are where all the fish are at as well (bluegill, specks, perch, crappie) and that's where we also catch our pike in the summer, right on top of the weeds. i guess it's true that u find 80% of the fish in 10% of the water
