We fished ice flows in the U.P. before... not the smartest thing but I swear you could support your weight on a 4'X4' square of ice. So a big sheet like that... I would be $100 the guy on that quad didn't fall through.

granted we used tethers so one guy could get out closer to the edge where the lakers were cruising. Took turns: one fishing and one being an anchor.

After seeing those pics I would be skeptical about going to the "bay ice outing" even if I could make it.
