headed to SVSU this weekend to see the girlfriend and wanted to try fishing the Saginaw river Friday afternoon.
never fished the river or even really seen it for that matter, is there still safe ice on the river?? where's a good place to fish it? (pm me if you don't want to post) I've heard talk of "Z bridge" where is it and what is the name of the road? any help at all oh and if anyone is going friday before dark they're welcome to join me  (really me join them) My number one goal really is just to stay safe, if the ice isn't safe then I just won't go.
thanks,
Joe

The river is not safe any more. The warm weather has taken most of the ice. A kid went thru the other day and there is open water in alot of areas.

I was wanting to hit the river this weekend as well. So your saying the river is not fishable right now?
Does anyone know if the river will be fishable by this weekend?

Mister twister, so were you out there fising it recently? I would really like to catch some walleyes, haven't caught an 'eye since I was home over winter break. I would be happy with a 13 incher, just to say I caught a walleye. :dizzy: I really don't know the area at all and would need some guidence on where to go.

Look for other people and take a spud to check ice in front of your self, they may have taken another way out. Green has been hot ,and there are plenty small fish and your 3 or 4 pounders here and there.Good luck. SAFTY FIRST.

I have fished the river this week. I go to SVSU and inbetween classes I make it out. Several people are faling through but a spud is a must. The indy bridge is in Bay City so just look for the people. The ice is iffy so be safe and stay dry!:piparty:
