It is funny that snopes says they aren't North American catfish variety. I have personally seen some huge river cats taken in MI (line caught). And I always thought snopes was 100% accurate... but not anymore.

they grind them into cakes and freeze them. Actually quite good. I admit I hang out with a lot of good-ole-boys.
My wife doesn't approve.

I poked around on the snopes link and came up with the site that those "Oklahoma" cats came from. Somewhere in Italy I think!

I grew up in noodlin country down south in okla, missouri.I grabbed many of catfish by hand back in the day.The fun part is going all the way under in dirty muddy water and reaching under the bank or in log jam not knowing what your going to get.I pulled out snappers and logger heads also.Got bit by snake once too.Well more than once actualy,The 1st was noodlin and 2cnd time I was just sitting with my hand over a rock while i was fishing. That was a copperhead,BIG OUCH hurt like :yikes: ...........well alot and swelled up my hand up to my shoulder for about 3 weeks.

A loggerhead is one mean ***** ugly lookin turtle. Its much worse than a snapper. It wont let go if you get a body part in its mouth. They get as big as any turtle you can ever imagine.Kinda like a miniture sea turtle in size.I have seen them 3feet long.
