I had the great pleasure to be part of a group(6) of fine youngsters and their parents today!(10 total)
I'm hoping they took pics!
There's nothing like watching youngsters explore the woods, sliding down snow covered hills and searching the snow covered ground for animal tracks.
Watching to see who is adventurous, who has the keen eye for detail, who has fun just being out there, is so much fun to take part in.
We had a few wet cold feet but that didn't stop them.
We all explored the ridges, seeing deer beds and areas where the deer had fed on the hemlocks. We saw raccoon tracks, squirrel tracks, turkey tracks and beaver chews and a beaver lodge, and more.
After the long walk we all took our turns shooting the guns too!
I think the youngest was 4 years old maybe older but not much.
The parents were fun as well.
Can't wait to go for another woods walk, and I also hope I am blessed to share a few hunts with them sometime in the future.
Thanks Kids, you made my day!
Kids had a blast. Thanks Trout, Chromium and Tangleknot, had a great time.:) I know Tangleknot took some pics. I never pulled my camera out of my pocket.

Thanks for showing us your neck of the woods Trout. It was good to see you again.
Good to see you too Paul and to meet your kids.
Speaking for the kids, they had a blast, but it didn't wear them out like we'd hoped. :help: There where full of energy all night!!
Sarah is working on a post now. Plenty of pics so we'll see them shortly.
I hope to do this again soon, I had fun.

I can't even express what a great time we had. It was one of those days that will bring a grin to our faces every time we reflect back and will stand out in all of our minds.
Watching to see who is adventurous, who has the keen eye for detail, who has fun just being out there, is so much fun to take part in.
Trout, you are incredibly intuitive when it comes to stuff like that. :)
Here come the pics!
Here's the crew starting off on our journey.

Esox's youngest, Riley. I think the first thing all six boys (the young ones ;) ) did was pick up a stick and start finding a use for it, lol.

Just moments before "the incident"! :yikes: Note to all, don't slide down snow covered hills with your legs in a V shape when you do not know what lies beyond. :tdo12:

I was there on Friday late afternoon. I walked to the ridge and did not continue down to the lake. What a beaver!!! I was going to walk dwon and scout the pond and maybe come back and go ice fishing.
Has anyone ever fished that pond, summer or winter? Please PM with any details.
Oh yeah right at the trail entance(the one 100 yards further down the road) I saw that someone had shot a rabbit. Must have been on Thursday that they did it. Was wondering if you got lucky Trout?

Nature always amazes me with how different a place can look from season to season. Hard to believe it's the same lake.
Wildcat, I don't know about the fishing but the kids found that there's a lot of mud. ;)
