My Hoyt XTec is new and before I add the rest and sight I want to do as much as I can to "sound-proof" it. Are there any tricks out there for doing a quality job of applying fleece/moleskin on the rest, riser, & shelf? After I add a stabilizer and string silencers what else can I do to my bow to make it the "stealth compound"?

The PSE NV's are pretty effective.
I had a pair on my Supra and they worked well....put them on my Black Night for a bit and they shut that bow up very nicely.
Biggest is make sure your accesories don't rattle and everything is TIGHT.

although i've yet to do it, i was told to put moleskin IN BETWEEN all accessories as well. (ie: between the riser and sights/quiver mount/rest etc.)

My ultra tech is quiet as a mouse without doing a thing. I added some moleskin to the riser.

Enhancer 2000 stabilzer mushroom looking thingy by SVL.
Should be standard equipment on every bow.
When I was shooting my BloodBrother, the Enhancer totally changed the bow's personality, for the better. With my OutBack, the improvement is more subtle, but still very tangible.

You got me Trushot .;) Why worry about moleskin on the riser and rest ,just put a biscuit on it and forget about arrow contact on the riser .:p

Beginning to think I should stop worrying so much about the bow and concentrate on keeping myself quiet on the hunt and in the stand. Thanks for the feedback.

I beleive this is my obsession is getting my bow as queit as possible. So that is why I went out and bought a bowtech and for those Mathew shooters out if you have never shot a Bowtech or heard a bowtech shoot check out the Justice and Liberty Models. While shooting a 3D competition this last summer some Mathew shooters said that these bows will give Mathews some competition.
But on the other had if you cannot afford to go out and by a knew bow. This is what I have done to my Martin. String silencers, speed knocks, cable guard dampers (SVL), Limb Savers (SVL), Riser dampers by Martin or mini limb savers (SVL), rubber between all parts, lock tight in all the screws except limb bolts, and a Golden Key Tranqualizer stabilizer.
Hope this helps to keep quiet,

I do the mole skin between the auxiliary equipment thing. Noticably difference on my old Martin from a fews years back, not so noticable on my Mathews. Helps keep the quiver, site, etc... quiet.

Add as much Limbsaver products as you can, or want. Depending on how much you want to spend and if you are concerned with added wieght. But I promise you one thing, they do work. As for your riser just recently I have found that super soft neoprene is as good as anything I have ever tried. It comes the same as moleskin, and you don't have to worry about it getting "knappy", just don't put it in between your accesories and riser because when it gets compressed it gets very sticky.

Youse gise go ahed and spind as much munny as you can afferd ta.
Fer my hard earnt dolar I reckon I kin just stick with some gold ol' ear plugs! Aint dat how da Eupers do it anyhows?
Seriously, a lot of good advice. If you are looking for a rest look at the silent solution. Draw with anything else and you WILL spook a deer one day... Most likely it will be that buck of a lifetime too.. <----<<<

when it comes to making a bow quite you have really done somethig when you can make a oneida quite and eveyone at the range agress.. :p
i use 4 string bats on my string set up..they work as well as leeches but weigh less and stay put on the string..i am a dealer for these so if you would like info please pm me...
I also work for a company located here in michigan called monster bows..this company has a location in canada also...they offer enhansments for all bows for performance and quietness, our website is almost ready but if you would like any info on things that can be done to make your bows shoot better and more quite email Mike Schuch at monsterbows@charter.net
I had them do my oneida limbcups with their mod and it did wounders for the noise created from the pwr limb in the cup when fired.
Hope this helps

sisu1-
There are many great suggestions offered and I personally adhere to most of them. One thing that I do that I didn't see mentioned though has to to do w/ the riser. I have not used moleskin or any thing like it for years in this area. It always seems to begin peeling off after a while. Especially in wet weather.
Here is what I do. I nock an arrow and then I thoroughly clean w/ isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) any area that the arrow could possibly make contact with. Then either using clear or brown 100% silicone caulking, caulk around the perimeter of the shelf and any place the arrow can make contact with the riser. It doesn't need to be a thick bead only about 1/8" - 3/16". Let it dry thoroughly and you will have a long lasting guard against noise that will not come loose in inclement weather and does not take away from the good looks of your bow. Just make sure you do this w/ lots of time before season opener so the odor has time to dissipate. My current bow is a Mathews MQ1 and I have had the same bead of caulk on it since I bought it, I think about 4 or 5 years ago (maybe even longer I don't remember when Mathews came out w/ that bow).
There is another mat'l you can buy instead of moleskin to use between accesories and the bow. It is a thin pad of self-adhesive neoprene (not sure on spelling) that works well for cutting down on vibration noises.
Good luck amd enjoy!
