Last night I had the "privalage" of shooting an indoor round. Haven't shot my 3D bow since the IBO Worlds in 2003 and haven't shot an indoor round for almost 3 years. I'd forgotten the level of torture you have to put both your mind and body through! :) It was a sort of "fun-torture", if there can be such a thing, but nonetheless it actually gave me a little itch to start shooting some indoor again and re-emphasized to me how important a little off-season dot shooting can be, even if it's just part of practicing for bowseason. The discipline, the conditioning, the focus...it's really hard to beat with any other form of archery and I sure felt it.

Lots of fun though, a great group of shooters to shoot around, and well worth it....now, if it only wasn't over 80 miles from my house I'd probably be there a few times a week. I'm looking forward to maybe some new indoor arrows and getting my Rival Pro out of the closet for some real serious shooting...we'll see.

Everybody enjoying their dot shooting this year? Do very many of you guys shoot dots?

I do but not real serious about it. While I enjoy the smack talking and focus and the ability to really take a hard long look at your form and how you shoot....it's too sterile for me to really be competitive in I think.

I'm still at the point where all the shooting I do is a means to and end....that being a dead critter somewhere down the road but I can certainly see where it could get to be more than that.

I shoot the spots to stay on my game and brush up but the 3D is where I do better albeit I haven't shot nearly as much of that.

That indoor shooting can make you or break you, but I do like it.

I just called up my friend Jim at MJC and he is sending me some new indoor arrows to use....I'll have to get a little serious for at least a couple months or so.

One of the things you'll find though is that if you really want to be very good at 3D, many of the best 3D archers will shoot close to 60 x's indoors, every time, when they are in shape. It's kind of a pain sometimes, but it can be worth it though!
