Bad news for people who don't like winter, but good news for people who believe in the lore of groundhog predictions and like icefishing!

Punxsutawney Phil says six more weeks of winter
PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (AP) — Punxsutawney Phil has "spoken," and the news isn't good.

The world's most famous furry forecaster saw his shadow Wednedsay on Gobbler's Knob, suggesting another six weeks of wintry weather.

The chubby critter delivered the prediction after he was pulled from his burrow in an oak stump at 7:31 a.m. by a top-hatted handler, and his prediction was greeted by boos from the thousands in attendance.

"He's only the messenger!" one of the members of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club — the volunteer group in charge of Phil and the town's Groundhog Day festivities — reminded the crowd braving the frigid weather.

Don't know. Hopefully the prediction is less snow, but keep the ice. :)

I see we are going to hit 40s and maybe low 50s in the next ten days, maybe phil had to much to drink yesterday.

The prediction for the month of Feb. that I saw on the news last night was Above normal temps and above normal precipitation. Looks like I'll be trading my shanty and spring bobbers for waders and 9 weights

LOL, Yeah, we might have to start turning to Georgia's favorite groundhog, General Beauregard Lee (if he doesn't retire first), for predictions. He seems to have a different opinion than Phil as to what's going to happen this winter:
