was wondering? caught a few walleye on the saginaw river and the bay and they seem to have these growth's all over there skin. is this normal? is it like the grubs(black specs in the meat of blue gills and other panfish) or is it something else? i guess a guy just get's leary with all the press talking about the chemicals dow puts in the waterways. still can't wait to catch some more though as it is a lot of fun! :chillin:

If they look like white warts or similar its nothing to worry about so I have been told.I have caught many walleye that have this on it and its unsightly to say the least but all superficial.EAT THEM it will be ok

My friends and I have caught some HUGE walleye outta Ford Lk. in the summer,, one of which woulda went on the wall, but we were all to afraid to touch it, with all the GROWTHS' on it. I don't know what they were, but they were something I've never seen before,, or since and this was like 7-8 years ago.

The growths are caused by a virus. Here is a link to some more discussion on the topic.
