Today's limit of gills

Hit a small local lake this am, for only the second time. Fished from 8:00 to 10:00 and only caugh 3 keepers ... all right away. BS'ed for a half hour and was going to leave. Before I did I walked to a couple open holes on the other side. Dropped the vex down and below 12 foot was almost solid red and with flickering green & yellow!! I couldn't even make out which set of red marks was the bottom (ended up being 22'). Dropped my jig down ... bam. I couldn't get it down there fast enough. Put a small split shot a foot above my jig and they were hitting it also. One time I had a double :yikes: .... one on the jig and the other on the split shot, the top one got off as it got to the hole. 1.25 hours as fast as I could drop it down and real the fish up and I had my limit. Couple of Crappies the rest gills. Most were in the +8" range with a couple 9" thrown in. There were also a couple that must have shrunk in the bucket on the way home :mad: ... Hate when that happens. :lol:

Oh, the pick only shows 23 ... the other two were in the sink. When I put them up for the pic, I counted 27 total! :bash:

Bear read it again ... there is 23 in the pic and 2 in the sink. ;) I thought I messed up and had 27 when I was going to take the pic. But after I counted them in the pic .... 23 + 2 in sink = 25 .... which is what I counted on the lake.

Funbonz - First statement says it all .... small lake and I mean very small, some might consider it a very big pond. Can't put too much pressure on it.

Way to go Ed. And it is a pond. Keep the dog away from those. Guess there is not need for me to keep any fish in your freezer now. Headed to Wolf Lake in the morning.
