double trouble

i had a buddy back out on a union lake trip today so i decided to go alone.got there at 4 p.m. and opened 2 holes in 12 feet of water out from the launch site.the hole i opened were over a short green weed bed that was only about 1 foot off bottom. the hole was on the edge and slid down another 5 feet from what i could see.the holes were full of perch.i could stick a minnow in the hole and pick and choose which fish i wanted.nothing huge , just a bunch of dinks to fish 9 inches.i caught 25 plus 1 gill and kept a dozen on a John A. Vance tick jig in black with a glow dot, a canadian favorite.he has his own website and sell his black jigs.these fish were so aggressive that they were chasing the jig right into the hole. i also missed a rip at dusk on a perch jiggin rap with a walleye minnow. also saw a 4-6 pound walleye in the hole right when i got there.three tips. 1) do not go on sunday, too much noise. 2) take a shanty even if it is too warm to block the light so you can see into the hole. 3) set up in 10-15 feet of water because this is where most of the action occurs on this lake and you will usually be on a dropoff.good luck and see you out there :fish:
