Sounds crazy and will have some dispute but here it goes, we have some peices of thin glass lyin' around that can be sanded.( neighbor co-owns glass company) and if i ct and sape and sand them so there small enough peices small enough so they wont break( size and shape them like tear drops). think i could do that then put the smaller hooks and eye's and then paint the tear drops any color or w/e?? think they'll be safe enough to use or work?
( sendin in a patent real soon just incase it works out  )
Thanks'
Shane

I was intrigued by your thread but I read it over and over and over and I still don't know what you were trying to say or do? Are you trying to use small pieces of glass for jigs?

Once i get an idea and get into it i f*** it all up (the psts i mean).. what i mean is sand the glass and shape it and stuff. add the hooks and eye holes and paint them so baicaly take peices of borken glass real small (smaller they are the harder they are to break) and shape and sand it to make tear drops... then paint it..so im makin clear tear drops. PICS when i get it up and rollin'.
P.S. SORRY MY KEYBORED IS MESSED UP AND IF I DON'T HIT THE KEYS HARD ENOUGH THEY WONT TYPE SO.. YEA :)
Slow down Shane, and read your posts before hitting submit. If you don't we can't.;) :p
On second thought, maybe you should type them in Word, run a spell check, then copy and paste them into here.

Thinking the idea should be left at an idea. Not sure what type of glass your dealing with but I think you'd be better off using a different material for the body. I think it will be a ton of work for what you are trying to do. If it works at all.

just do what i and most do.... order size 0 clorado or willow blades and fuse the aberdean hook to it... then paint that. i solder the hook, but it gets messy. might wana ask some people like ficiouse how he gets the hook fused to the blade.

I've done the same thing with the solder and it never turned out the way I envisioned.........my failed attempts at making jigs made buying them ALOT easier. Hopefully it works for ya. Post pics if it does!

If your looking for transperency, use plexiglass. It can be heated and molded to a form you want. Don't know how you'll get the hooks to fasten, though.

Neil I solder them, Use forceps and clamp the hook. Heat over a torch and just touch it a little at a time. Then you hold it till solid and unclamp.

If you are looking for some awesome panfish jigs, I know just the person you should talk to. He goes by the name of Lunker on here, but his name is Josh. He makes the best ice flies I have ever used. At $12 a dozen they are a steal as far as I am concerned. They are a little higher priced than some other guys on here are selling them for, but the materials are quite different. Anyhow they are the best jigs I have ever used for catching bluegills. The best part is no bait is required. Good luck!

Great idea. could be more payout than profit though. I am sure we have all seen the glass beads on necklaces painted up. The look nice and with the right paint job a sure hit with anglers. BUT, you have to think of the cost to produce them. Glass, although broken..at some time you will need to buy it, hooks, paint (not sure if regular jig paint would hold up on glass), overhead, and marketing. Great to make a few and sell but to patent and SELL may be another story. I wish you the best and once you get a few prototypes made let me know I would interested in seeing how they turn out. You could patent then send to major companies and get thier $.02

deputy,
I know exactly what you are trying to do. I have started this same thing but have not finished it.
You are trying to "re-invent the wheel" my friend! Find a bead shop. Most malls have them or look in the phone book. Go there and take a look. You will be amazed at what you can find. Glass pieces that are colored, different shapes, etc. What you are attempting to do will be very time consuming and possibly finger slicing.
I have a pretty good idea on how to get the hooks on them etc.
I think I even have some glass beads that could be made into the Morymoshka(sp) type jigs.(Russian with the holes in the middle of them.)
PM me and I can get you going if this is something you want to pursue.
