Wigglers, hands down. Pain in the **** to deal with,, but well worth it once you're out there.

Tipped with one spike all I ever use on bluegills and crappies.

size 6,8 or 10 jig depending on how big the fish biting are

teardrop or ant style jigs. ( i prefer anything vertical for panfish and horizontal for crappie and perch)

waxworm, mousie, spike

color and method used will vary on body of water.

Spikes stay on the teardrops best, and gills love them...

this might be a dumb question, but has anyone ever used canned corn. I thought about trying it, but I have no idea if it is legal or not. :help:

i have a lot less experience than a lot of guys but i like waxworms. and the jammin jigs neon bobber fry tipped with a waxworm has been working really well for me this season so far, for all kinds of fish.

in fact so far i have caught gills, crappie, lm bass, perch, and almost a small pike on this set up.

Spikes on a jig or ice fly. Bee moths and mousies come off too easy and i've never seen fish bite better on them. Spikes are cheap tough and long lasting. Will resort to wigglers if I need to, they are probably a little better but as stated a pain to take care of and expensive. Never throw the dark lavae in the garbage or you may have some big black flies buzzin around the house and your wife will real pizzed. :yikes:

undefinedwhat kind of jig is that? Also what is the best way to scale gills? Do those little barrel s that fit in a 5 gallon bucket work good on those? :fish: :grouphug:

I use same approach, except I will go down to size 14, if fishing is slow.

my best baits this past week were a black/green ladybug pattern .....and the real champ was a black/white stripes bobber fry...this was all in clear water against some very tricky (and big) gills. couldn't seem to get fish to go on the 'normal' stuff that had worked so far this season. spikes / waxies mix it up....sometimes i ditch the spikes to try to lose some of the dinks. also if your waxies/spikes start to get raggedy on the hook change them up...it only draws in more dinks.
