Slammin the panfish [Archive] - The Michigan Sportsman Forums

Started out the morning on Union Lk for some tipup fishing. Ended up with 1 flag 23" pike. After a quiet hour I pulled one tipup and went for some perch. 6 keepers biggest around 11" with about 15 throw backs. Stopped by the house for a quick snack around 10:30 and decided to try another private lake I haven't fished in a while. Sure felt like i was in my normal honey hole. Non stop action, didn't matter what depth I fished. Left the ice around 1:30 with 23 gills, 2 crappie and 3 more perch. Getting ready to head back out to Union for some more tipup action :D The fillet knife and fry pan have been seeing alot of action lately......Forgot my camera this morning heres the second batch.

Ummm. No offense because it seems that you eat the fish that you catch, But I don't know If I'd post for 10 thousand people to see that you kept well over your daily limit?

I too got into the panfish today me and son caught about 30 keepers so it's fish fry tonight and smoked bluegill tomorrow. :)

Youre allowed to keep 25 of any kind of panfish...he got 23 gills and 2 crappies...thats not over the limit. And the limit of perch is 50 so he didnt go over.

Last I checked you could keep a combination of 25 gills and crappie..and 23 gills +2 crappie equal 25 (I think) and 6 perch + 1 perch= 7 ...sounds legal to me..also sounds like one heck of a day on the hard water..awesome job

Whats over the limit 25 gills and crappie combined, I still had more perch to catch :yikes: . All caught on waxworms
