"There is a differance between a property managed for wildlife and one managed for re-forestation."
There are some core debates in Lansing. DNR Forestry Division ($) VS Wildlife Division (grouse) or Seirra Club (old growth) VS Foresters (clear cut). We as private landowners need to make those same decisions. While we make those decisions we find ourselves in the other habitat VS deer density debate as discussed in the QDM forum.
I'm beginning to take more notice in these debates as I plan my 2005 WHIP work. The ultimate land manager and the ultimate deer manager are tied together. Be selective in what you cut and plant, and be selective with what you let go and shoot.
