Went by Gander Mountain Novi this afternoon for bait and seen a flier
for an icefishing contest this saturaday that is being sponsored by Gander at Kent lake. It will be from 8am to 5pm this saturday and will be staged from the West boat launch. Entry fee is 5 bucks. Free icefishg poles for the first 15 kids and prizes to be awarded for heaviest walleye, heaviest pike and one for heaviest panfish. Also some reps will be there from Vex ect.
Didn't bring flier home so if you are interested or want more details call
Gander Novi at 1-248-380-4000.

I also fished Kent this afternoon and brought home 14 nice gills and
three 10 inch crappies. Seen one guy with a 23 eye he said he caught on a tipup out by the X-way. I was fishing off turtlehead.

I plan on going with the kids.
I wonder if Wild Wing counts as part of Kent Lake since it is somewhat attached?
I know I can do good there.

I'm not sure what the prizes are but I imagine they are probably being supplied by the vendors that are showing up.
I'll go just to see what a number of people on the lake can come up with.

This spring and fall the nice gills and crappies were being caught
like old times again. Walleyes were real good this fall from shore too.
Mostly the 24 inch plus females unfortunately.
But lowereing the lake 3 feet makes it one tough lake to figure out
during ice time.
I've never met anyone who has figured out the winter eyes in that lake.

Is anyone else going to this or have any spots you care to share?
I know the lake pretty good but have only been able to catch a few bass
by accident and the 6 to 7 inch perch that are in there by the millions it seems.

thanks

Stopped in the store today and it looked like they had some nice prizes to give out for the derby. A GPS, auger, spud, gift certificates to GM and a lot more that I can't recall. Good stuff though!
