I have fished it before had good success, i suggest getting a map on the lake , it will show you a sunken island in the north side. If you fish around that you should catch fish, i fished for specs in the 20 foot area around that and did very good, but i heard that they did something to the parking right there so you might have to drive around to find a spot, hope i helped and good luck!

Night fishing for slab crappies can be great right off the mouth of the creek that dumps in, but be careful.

There is good gills and crappies in the lake, I pretty much limit out every time I fish it. I have not fished it yet this year so I have no current report. The lake is shaped like a horse shoe we fish it on the north end, I think it"s 5 mile rd.
hi fishidude. you can get to the lake from 5 mile road just east of murray lake road. that is where most people fish for the big gills and specks. there is also two access sites from the south side right up the center of the horseshoe ,if you just want to run tip ups from dnr access site. a portion of the parking on the north (off 5 mile rd) has been recently signed no parking. there is still room for about 4 vehicles. i saw one man parking on the road as well. i have not been on the lake this winter, but went by today and there was a shanty and others fishing there. as splitshot said, watch out for the feeder creek right there, as it doesn't freeze well. i think you can find a map of the lake on the michigan dnr site.search for michigan dnr.gov. it shows the access and depths of the lake. there are gills, bass, pike, specks and muskie in the lake. check the rules for muskies,i think you can't catch or maybe spear this time of year. hey..where do you live? i am at grattan, and fish the area often. good luck. moms
