While I'm waiting to get out ice fishing, I am thinking about switching some of the front trebles on my Hot 'n' Tot collection to a slightly larger, red treble. What size do you think best? I don't know what size is on there now, and am no where near my tackle, so I can't go look. :dizzy:
Thanks

On the old original h&ts (small) I have always used VMC #9649 round bends,#4 for steelys. Not afraid of snags?, #9650. Lg. size #3 9650 for salmon.

are you falling for the oldest marketing trick in the book too.the lure builders and hook manufacturers have really got this one going. why don't you buy a color-c-lector or a flying lure. even better yet, take a red marker and paint all your lures and hooks red. if red attrscts fish that well, than we never should have any lure in the box besides a red and white daredevil.better yet buy some red fake blood and load it into your scent chamber kangeroo tubes.what a load of crap.just buy a good round bend or offset size 4 trebble and be done with it.

I don't believe the red hook thing either. It's the first color to disappear in the water. Bronze does just fine for me. Have done well with the red bill on h&ts but just as good with gold or silver.

Jeesh, I didn't mean to tick you off. I have had MANY occasions on Saginaw Bay when I could catch fish on a red-billed tot and an exact same bait running right next to it without a red bill does not get hit all day. Figured to run some baits with red hooks just because I can, Fact is, most of the time, you don't run deep enough in the bay to lose red (gets lost at about 15' with normal visibility - I HAVE done a little study outside of ads). If it bothers you that much, though, I won't do it.
