I read somewhere that you can use 2 6v lantern batterys to power up a fishfinder? how do you do it. I have a humminbird fishfinder that i want to use on the ice and i have 2 6v lantern batterys but i cant get it to turn on. If i hook the batterycharger up to it direct it comes right on. Any ideas
thaks

Rich,
The fishfinder should work on 12v. In order to get 12v out of two 6v batteries you have to wire it this way. Positive terminal on batt. #1 to Negative terminal on batt. #2. Then the positive terminal on batt #2 goes to positive lead on the fishfinder and the negative terminal on batt #1 is your negative lead to the fishfinder. This will give you 12v out of the two 6v batteries. It's called being wired in series.
Have fun !
