Fishcube and I fished ginos from 6 a.m. to 11:30. We fished in 10 feet of water, schools of small fish would come and go, we managed a couple of keepers, most fish caught were next years dinner! Over all, a pretty disappointing outing, I am placing the blaim on the weather. I tried everything to land some nice size fish. Fishcube used his vex and never really marked any schools of jumbos. The few that passed we caught. Finally the walk back to the car took at least an hour, it was the worse walk I have ever had. The snow drifts were impossible to avoid.

Bigfish,
I give you a lot of credit, you are a true diehard.
I had enough trouble with the drifts in my driveway to go anywhere.

We got out today,, Fairhaven,, headed out @ 7:30 am a few dinks :gaga: was all. Dissappointing considering all we went thru just to get out there,, the walk back was grueling!!!Seemed to take forever. We left around 12:00, looked like everyone else had the same luck as us, cuz when we startd to break down the shanty, so was everyone else. Talked to DNR @ the launch,, he said it's the same thing all over( we knew that cuz we were all over the place all week and nothin good to report) Water not bad clear to bottom were we were @ about 6 feet. We hope someone had better luck than us,,, but talking to people,, dont look like it was a good weekend ( fishin that is) for anyone. :(

I drove up to the raft this am  . Unloaded my 4x2 atv and headed out a few 100 yrds. all was good until I stopped. boom it sank in the snow like a rock (ice was a good 10 inches thick). It's a light little thing so I turned it around by hand and got it going - back up on the trailer. I then walked back to my shanty set it up and it felt like I was fishing on a cloud with all the snow. I stuck around for Hmmm. 15 to 20 min's . One large gill on a sweedish pimple. I was only in 3 or 4 foot of water with weeds on the bottom . Water was stained with about 1 foot vis.

Ther is always Sunday  I'm hitting home waters!!

William H. B. and others,
Did the same as you, but the dinks weren't as thick at the lauch area. Didn't make it half way out with that wooden floor shanty. Four wheeler came off just after you and had the same report.

Should have worn the cleets, that snow was soft and I had to dig in to pull that shanty. Good thing I had on enough padding or other things besides my pride might have been hurt.

Man, I feel your pain! Years ago I fished during a snowstorm off the beach at Metro. On the way in I would take 50 steps (counted) and then rest to catch my breath. I don't know how many times I almost dropped the rope of the shanty and just walked in empty-handed.

Never again. Especially now that I'm closer to 60 than 50.

Mike,
With all the wind and drifting, you might have to start all over again. :yikes:

I also went out to fairhaven. Got out before sun up and five of us wandered out into the wild blue yonder about 1/4 to 1/2 mile 6 1/2 ft of water. We started hammering dinks right away about 6:30 a.m. Fished same spot till noon and pulled in 15 fish 9 - 12 inches. Not bad considering the walk in was like a scene out of the movie "day after tomorrow" I have a fish trap voyager loaded to the gills and it took two of us just to get it to move through the 2 - 3 foot snow drifts. But in this sport my motto is "Whatever it Takes" The ice was at least 8 in. Water clarity for us was unlimited could see the fish biting at the bottom. We used minnows and spikes but fish were frenzying so they were biting even plain hooks. The bigger ones I caught were on the biggest minnows I had in my bucket. GoodLuck all

FISH ON!

Hey Guys

All of you who went out I give all the credit it the world. In my younger days I would have probably went out but I am not so sure of that. I do have my limits but I must admit that my limits have changed over the years. One I have gotten older but I do not know if much wiser but two I have retired last May and I have much more time to get out and much more time to choose from. It used to be that I used to have to give up sleep to fish but now that I am retired I do have more time to choose from. Again I give credit to all who went out. I remember those days...................

I went out there in the storm of the century. I am so sore this morning. it even hurts to type. Walkking through that snow punching holes was a killer. My fishing buddy and I each managed 40 9 - 12" perch. A few were even larger. We probably caught 100 to 150 dinks. All the keepers were on rapalas with the red jensen egg.

It was a rough day. I broke my shanty, ice scooper and minnow bucket. The minnow bucket dumped and I ended up loosing all the minnows.

After all that, it still was a fun day.

This is my friend’s honey hole. To be truthful, I am not sure I could find it If I had to. He drove and took so many different roads, I couldn’t even begin to guess.

No but a normal 5 min run to gander mountain took me 1 1/2 hrs because of the snow and because i was so upset about the travel time I spent $50.00 on nothing but ice-fishing lures, wife was to happy that i was gone for 3 1/2 hrs and spent that much on just "ice fishing stuff" as she would say, but ill be out there this week some time

Spent all day shoveling! Cleared my drive twice and grandparents twice. Got home last night to a house that was 60 degrees. The snow piled up on the roof and covered my furnace so the burner wouldn't light!!! Had to get up on the roof at 7:30 last night to shovel the roof!!!
Hopefully I'll get out next weekend!!

I fished a small private lake today west of town and caught nothing, whats new about that?Is there a place where a person can catch decent size fish anymore?Im beginning to wonder. The Walk was terrible through all the drifts and lots of water under the snow which seemed a bit strange.

Left the house in Midland at 3:00 am to come to LSC 2 hour drive took over 4 hours...Finally got out on the ice and caught a nice perch within 2 minutes of having the first pole in the water...and that was the last one caught...Fished until about 3:30 in about 6 fow and didn't even see fish swimming thru...tried every lure and bait i had with no luck, but oh well i was with some good friends and we told some good stories so all in all not bad (until the walk in) First off thanks to the weight of the snow pushing down on the ice all day forcing the water up our shanties became permanent pieces of LSC...after alot of spudding we were able to free them (I almost wish we would of left them though) walking in was interesting..I have a shaprell speed shack XL and it weighs in at a modest 98 pounds not including all my gear..No skies just a plow...it was the longest 1/2 mile walk I have ever experianced...I saw four wheelers and three wheelers galore (even a golf cart????) getting stuck. It was definatly an interesting experiance.

I wasn't able to make it out. My cousin fished all over the lake on Sunday and couldn't find a fish. Around 11:30 a.m. he moved into a canal and fished until about 2:30. He ended up with about 25 gills and crappie. We were both shocked he couldn't find the perch on the Bay yet! Hopefully next weekend. I think the lunker perch are just waiting for me to get my butt out and chase em around ;) <----<<<
