Wife made the mistake of telling me that I should start making my own arrows :D

Wondering if anyone has a one (or more) fletching jigs that they are looking to get rid of? Preferably with a right helical.

Shooting Easton Epic 400 carbon arrow, 3 4" fletching now.

Thanks.

you can get a new one pretty cheap. they have some good ones made of reinforced plastic. your going to love putting together your own arrows.
a fun thing to have is a cresting machine. you can build one with an old sewing machine motor, and a few bits and peices. i use a crutch tip that fits the pulley on the motor.it has a hole i drilled in it thats a snug fit on the knock. i got some little ball bearing wheels from a slotcar for the arrow to spin on. so it doesn't get marred. spin the arrow slow and touch it with a brush dipped in enamel, and magicly a stripe appears on the shaft.thats tons of fun. you can design a color pattern for every friend you have .i make up a sample of each pattern on a dowel rod so i can repeat it when ever they get new arrows. P.S.this can pay for most of your own arrow material ifyou charge a little for your work. cool you can be a business tycoon.lol
if you want a base color under your striping get a short piece of pipe with a cap on one end. pour paint into it to the depth you want the color to come too. tie a string to the shaft dip it in then hang it to dry. then put your stripes on and your fletching and your friends will think you an artist.

You might be able to find one used in the Archerytalk.com classifieds .

You can get a good one for well under a hundred bucks...the money starts when you begin the experimenting with different components.

And yes, you are required by Michigan state law to also dip and/or crest said new arrows.

Have a clean, well lighted workplace. Have a ball.

I also use the blitzenburger. It does a very good job and its easy to use.
I’m also glad to hear the Michigan made it a law to crest your arrows.
I hope that went into effect for the 2005 hunt. I have to let my wife know I have to buy the wheel, paint and even have a personal crest made.
Thanks for the info.

I have picked up a fletching jig...well ordered it anyways. I have found several places for the shafts, fletchings, nocks...ect.

Soon I will be playing at the table.

Oh yea, the crest/dipping "LAW"...just a rumor. But my wife already knows that I am going to be trying that too....
