Fished at the Lake Erie Metro Park Marina this afternoon from 3 to 6. It was a beautiful day. The ice was thick, about 7" or so. There were about 15 people fished there.

I had one bite but lost it. That was it. One youngster did catch a perch (see picture below). Another guy said he caught 6. Talked to some other people; they did not catch anything. Three guys had a Hummingbird fish finder. It was cool to see from the screen that some actions were going on underneath. Damn, I need one.

Marina - gorgeous. Look at the trucks in the back. These guys are tough; they are loading the dirt into the trucks and transporting it to somewhere.

Open Water - on the lake side the ice is not that safe. You could see the open water over there. A lot cracking sounds.

Jets - Awesome jets flying over with piercing, thunderous sound.

Moon - Beautiful moon. So peaceful that there is no sign showing that a 6"-9" snow storm is coming.

Great pic's! What kind of digital camera, if you don't mind me asking? I'm going to get a digital camera for my boat.

Great pic's! What kind of digital camera, if you don't mind me asking? I'm going to get a digital camera for my boat.

It is a Canon PowerShot S410, about 2 1/8" high x 3 1/2" wide x 1 1/8" thick. I was impressed with its high quality image and easness of use. I bought it from Sam's Club, cheaper than other places. They also has a nice bag with no extra charges. It can also make short movies with sound. But I haven't used that feature yet.

I also bought a 256M disk. It can hold up 300 to 400 pictures each of with the size of 500K to 1M. You can take many pictures and later select the good ones. I had to reduce the sizes of these pictures to 30 to 40K so they can be uploaded in the MS site. But you can tell that the quality of the photos is still amazing.

I had a Canon PowerShot A40 before. But is was bigger and heavier. Last summer I brought it with me when I went fishing. I put it in the pocket of my vest but forgot to zip the pocket. It plopped in the water and it was done.

Now I alway put this camera inside a Ziplog bag. I am sure sooner or later somewhere somehow it will end up in water.

Fishrookie, were you fishing in the main canal or between docks? Can you enter the ice bye the offce and main canal? was out there last week and only see dinks being caught. It looked like they were digging in the entrance marshy hill.

Thanks,Vince:fish: :fish2:

I drilled the holes all the way from the canal to the docks. But the fish were caught in dock area. There is a aluminum walkway at the corner near the canal side. You can easily get your shanty in and out the ice. ALso, you can get on the ice from the docks because the water level is high and you can climb to the dock from the ice easily.

Yes, they are removing the mash hill which was dumped from the dredge of the lake bottoms somewhere. I hope it is not toxic.
