OK its getting cold. Has anyone checked out the ice on Erie/Breast Bay. This snow coming could mess things up but walking could be the ticket. I have some # in my GPS I want to give a shot ASAP. I prefer to walk as the machines screw things up out there IMHO.

watch out on the lake . alot of air pockets with only 2 or 3 inches of ice and with this snow coming its really going to screw it up. didnt get out to far when i checked it because of alot of 1 punch with the spud bar and you went through. hopefully by next weekend maybee.

Yea, last year I saw a 4 wheeler go through. It was a guy with a trailer and he was ferrying people from Sterling to the point. We flew out of our shanty when I heard the screaming...then realized it was just the machine he was fretting about. If he would have found a way to unhook the trailer he might have been ok alas they were trying to winch out both and lost both. I hope he collected enough $ to make it worthwile.
Plan on a long walk out to the ice if your going to Sterling. They have the access road closed off to the beach areas and to the south campground. You have to park at the boat launch and make your way out from there. I was told it would be closed all winter. No special reason, that's just how they do it now. Your tax dollars at work-
