i did the leg work for you guys today so lets put a hurting on the fish tommorrow.we started checking at the venitian, which was muddy and only giving up a few 6-8 inch fish, to metro ,which is a muddy mess, both in the front and back basin.from there we checked the beach and the day sail ramp, which had about 200 yards of new ice.the fishing was slow with little fish.on to gino's. early today there was a good bite and a lot of cars. larger fish ,but not a great quanity of them.probably the best bet for tommorrow.water was cloudy but not unfishable.we went to crocker and checked the spillway it was muddy and dangerous. ended up at beacon cove. careful, the ice blew out and just re-froze wednesday. the marina has lots of good ice.i actually got 7 keepers out of 20-30 fish up to 9.5 inches and heard some better reports. saw a few pigs too.minnows or jigging raps are the ticket. i also heard that fairhaven is going fairly strong, but could not verify.lots of open water so be careful. still need ice reports from sang and cotton if someone lives nearby.good luck and CARRY A SPUD IF YOU ARE GOING OUT.

I fished several of the locations and didn't check Crocker :bash: but everything else was right on. Selfridge is alittle hairy and water is dirty so I would avoid it. Only place I got keepers (5) from was Fairhaven all between 9-10 and was problably the farthest out. Got to I would guess 6' max and could barely make out bottom but in 5' it was clearer. Metro got couple bites but no solid hits. Can't wait for water to clear up.

Do you park at Crocker and walk out and around to get into Beacons Cove or do you have to "jump down" to the ice from the wall?? Thanks in advance

Be careful rounding the corner at Beacon Cove. Last year a guy went through right at that corner even though there was great ice where we all fished last year. There's a current in LSC and it runs right across the front of Beacon Cove. I used to have a boat in there for several years.

Was out at Selfridge today and yesterday, few dinks and a few bites. If you go wlak on hte clear ice or what was clear today, the snow covered spots are thin you can break thru in one good hit. Otherwise the ice is hard and 4.5 to 6". They have to start bitting sometime. I heard a few people talking and catching a few but not many. Be out there in the morning in the snow. Walk softly and good luck. The ice froze at selfridge Monday night then it snowed Tuesday night.

The marina is deep. the enterance of the marina is shallow. when the wind blows west or east the water moves in and out. Its the west wind that makes the entrance bad ice. when the water gets sucked out it pulls the deep warm water up to the shallow enterance causing thin ice. I walked on it a week or so ago it was fine but still a good place to use a spud
