Fall Hunting has kept me away from the river and backwaters. Work and other circumstances are keeping me from it now! Looks like I am not missing much based on the reports (or lack of)!

Probably won't be out there until early April. If not then, at least during turkey season when we do our turkey/steelhead/brown trout combo trip.

Brian don't forget the Tawas Bay Walleye! Sounds like a pretty good combo!

And perch and smelt.... too many fish and so little time in the spring :D I think the month of April is my favorite month of the year :)

There's always point produce market at foster rd. :) $2.00 a pound in the round, plenty of bait and good meals :D ;)

Funny you should mention that spot Ralph.... as we used to dip near there! Hopefully we won't have to get the "store bought" variety, but the last few years have been pretty poor for smelt!

I still do ;) Haven't the last 2 years due to job changes, but sounds like I haven't missed much. 3 years ago, filled a cooler(about 3-5 gal. pails) one night. Out by the point, or the end of Mich. depending on wind. If the smelt aren't there the walleye at night can be great :D Will be there this spring.

Smelt, how can I forget them? We usually make a stop at some of the popular smelt spots (Foster Rd, Whitney Drain) but we've never gotten any. You are right though Ralph, April is a great month for fishing.
