I just bought a Trophy taker and I'm wondering which way you guys shoot your cock feather/vane? I seem to be hitting the rest when I shoot it down. I hear most guys shoot them up?
Thanks in advance!

I shoot a Shaffer Drop Away on my Outback with the cock feather down and haven't had a problem. I'd take it to an archery shop and have it checked out. I'm pretty sure that with a drop away you should be able to have the cock feather in any position without effecting the flight. :)

I also shoot a trophy taker and shoot it cock down, but I also shoot 4" helical feathers with as hard of a helical as I can get..havent noticed any contact issues. Good luck, I love my trophy taker it helps more than ya think especially in broadhead flight IMO.

I shoot 3" feathers to hunt and still shoot cock feather up.
I shot cock down and didn't have any contact but I never want it either so I still gave it the extra distance with cock feather up.
There may be other issues involved but try switching it around and see if that fixes it.

I just put a trophy taker shaky on my switchback. I have only shot about 100 arrows with it. I was also concerned with which way to put the vane. I tried it up and down and it didn't seem to effect my arrow one bit.

I'm shooting the Blazer vanes. It doesn't seem to effect my arrow greatly, I shot 2 perfect rounds in league last night. But I happened to look down and notice my mole skin was tore up in the bottom of the "v". I have also heard of some guys cutting the ends of the V down for clearance when shooting with the cock vane up?
Would shortening the rest cord, that pulls it up, make it fall quicker (earlier time wise) allowing the vane to clear?

I shoot with the Trophy Taker as well, and have never noticed any contact regardless of where I place the cock vane. I do, however, now shoot with the cock vane up as a rule, just to ensure consistent arrow flight. I was amazed at the difference in arrow flight when I first went to a Trphy Taker from a 2 prong style. Tighter groups, better accuracy at farther distances...really made a difference in my shooting. Hope it does the same for you.

I use the trophy taker and LOVE IT!! I have much better accuracy, but I wish I didnt have to use mole skin. I wish you could dip it into a rubber coating for smooth NO noise pulling back everytime. The mole skin can wear and change the flight I would think.
I am happy with my trophy taker though!!

i went to the drop away for the first time this year and it never mattered on the position of the vaines,,it did improve my accurasy and i grouped my arrows allot tighter with the dropaway

No....just the opposite. It will come up ealier and drop later.
Try the cock vane up and see if that helps. Should be no problem...just a nock twist to get it there.
The rest, ideally, will be set up to raise the last 1.5-2" of the draw cycle.
More or less and it may not drop in time...or drop before your arrow has enough energy to continue in a straight line.
I've seen the latter far more frequently than the former.

I tried a drop away recently ,and ended up going back to my Whisker Biscuit .It was much simpler to tune ,and shot just as well as the drop away .:p
