Just talked with a guy coming off north side of Fremont Lake. Had several nice jumbo perch although he said he had to do some sorting. He said 32 fow. Asked about eyes but he said he was only fishing perch. 4 to 6 inches of ice. Have to try tomorrow unless the snow storm is as bad as they are calling for.

Yup ... the ice is in good shape out there .... finally. :) I was out quite a ways from the south launch and found about the same conditions. Once you get out a little bit, it is all very good, clear ice that has all formed since the 'big chill'.
Did you see the perch Wally-eye?? I've only ever been able to catch dinks out of there. I'm sure there must be some decent ones there as well ... but man that lake has a lot of dinks.
Did they say where they were fishing at, other than the depth?? I always go out from the south launch ... maybe I need to change my habbits.
If you go out .... do not forget your creepers!!! And, if you go out from the north side, keep an eye out for a wayward 6 gallon bucket .... that wind was pretty nasty tonight. Luckily the contents finally fell out, after I chased it for 20 yards or better.

You may want to try the north side, out from the swimming area. Was told to me today by a fellow at your honey hole. You will know where to spot my truck. If the snow keeps falling you may not need the creepers.

Trust me .... my knowledge is limited!! Would like to know where you got the huge eye at though. :evilsmile Was it soft or hard water??? :16suspect
Would be nice to meet up with you sometime .... and Wally-eye as well. WDGibby and I usually meet up with each other (when I'm not working) and hit it pretty hard (well at least try to). Don't think either of us have met too many members of the sight in our travels.
Wally-eye, let us know how you make out. I won't be able to get back out until Fri evening. Keep your eyes open for Gibby, he will be in a fish trap and have on a 'mad bomber' hat. He was thinking about going out there today ... depending on the snow.

Had planned on going today but JUST got done plowing snow. Been at that for the past 3 hours.
I always fish the north shore and park at the boat launch. The perch the guy had were at least 9 inchs plus. He had a few in the bucket. He really didn't want to show them too bad. Just said 32 fow with minnows and he had to sort some.
I usually get a mess off the north shore but usually have to sort some. Last year did get a few nice eyes off the north shore in about 30fow or so, right tight to the bottom.. although in that water they do suspend at times.
I'm not sure if I will make it today or not. Kind of a busy day. More than likely will fish both Thur. and Friday afternoons. Will be in a Shappell.

I didn't make it up there today. Sounds like I need to get some minnows for the morning,. and pack my walleye rod. To bad some folks have to work tommorrow. Any sick days left Ed?
Wal-eye, I will keep my eye open for you. I will be cozyed down in my little Trap. Will more than likey head off by early afternoon. With all this snow hope we don't have to trudge out to far.

100 yards or so will get you 25 to 30 fow off the north side boat launch. Not much of a trudge. Which is good with all the snow we have gotten since last night. Still snowing.
I plan on being there around 1PM and usually stay till 8 or 9PM. In a black Shappell.

Have any of you guys been on the north side today? I'm thinking of taking the wife out for some eyes or perch this weekend. She loves fishing but stopped ice fishing a few years back after watching me go through the ice off 2nd st. ( some doofus cut a 3X3' spearing hole right next to the path to the shanty town the night before and failed to mark it! SPLASH!!! :yikes: that last 300 yds. seemed like 3 Miles!) I have finally convinced her to go again but want to be sure there is plenty of ice. Have you seen any quads out there yet? alot of snow on the ice today? any help would be very appreciated.

I've never fish Fremont, sounds like I'm missing out (Twin Lake resident). How's the water clarity? Any updates on the ice thickness since the blizzard?

I was out there today, 5 inches of clear ice 200 yards out from the boat launch North side. Up by shore was white ice some folks had wet feet from day before but froze now.
Walleye
Was nice meeting you. Guess I trudged out a tad to far. Believe the Vex would get you more fish. The fellow in the white shantie way east of you said he got two walleyes last nite. Going to try and smoke that little northern.

Nice talking to you out there Gibby. I stayed till about 5:20 or so. Couldn't take the excitement any longer if you know what I mean. There were about 10 different guys that came out about 4:30. Most went out just a touch farther out then you were. Next time I go out I'm going to have to trudge a little farther. Still dreaming about that vex.
Good fishing. :fish:
